Arlington to host International Overdose Awareness Candlelight Vigil

Attendees are invited to connect with storytellers who share their personal journeys with loss, recovery, and hope. The vigil culminates in a ceremony where names of loved ones are read aloud, followed by the glow of candlelight in their memory.
What: International Overdose Awareness Day Candlelight Vigil
Who: The evening will feature reflections from Arlington County Board members and leaders from the Department of Human Services.
When: Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, at 7 p.m.

About the Arlington Addiction Recovery Initiative (AARI)
The Arlington Addiction Recovery Initiative (AARI) is housed in the Arlington County Department of Human Services. AARI is Arlington’s opioid and other addictions taskforce, comprised of stakeholders from across the county. AARI was founded in January 2017 in response to the rising concerns regarding opioids in our community.
