REPORTS
RECKLESS HANDLING OF A FIREARM, 2024-12070059, S. Randolph Street at S. Quincy Street. At approximately 10:24 a.m. on December 7, police were dispatched to Columbia Pike and S. Glebe Road for the report of a suspicious person. The preliminary investigation determined that the male suspect was allegedly acting disorderly and manipulating what appeared to be a firearm before leaving the area. A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers subsequently located the suspect in the area of S. Randolph Street and S. Quincy Street. While officers attempted to detain the suspect, he resisted arrest before being taken into custody. During the course of the investigation, a firearm was recovered and the suspect provided false identifying information to officers. Jean-Paul Tshiteya, 52, of Alexandria, Va. was arrested and charged with Reckless Handling of a Firearm, Obstruction of Justice and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was held without bond.
ROBBERY, 2024-12080114, 4200 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 7:38 p.m. on December 8, police were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined that two juvenile female victims met with the juvenile male suspect, who is known to them, in a parking garage. While in the parking garage, two additional juvenile female suspects, who are also known to the victims, approached, threatened the victims with a knife and stole their personal belongings. Afterwards, the suspects physically assaulted one of the victims before fleeing the scene on foot. The victims sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention at the scene. Petitions are pending for the juvenile suspects for Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Felony, and Assault by Mob. The investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 2024-12060127, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 3:59 p.m. on December 6, police were dispatched to the report of disorderly conduct. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male victim was walking in the area when he was approached by a group of three female and three male suspects in their late teens. The three male suspects corned the victim, made threatening statements, and attempted to steal clothing items, before the victim was able to run from the scene. No injuries were reported. Responding officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspects yielding negative results. The suspects are described as three Black males and three Black juvenile females, all 15 – 19 years old, wearing all black clothing and face coverings. The investigation is ongoing.
