About the Project

Arlington is replacing Marcey Road Park’s existing amenities to better serve the community, extend access to people with disabilities, and better support our natural resources. With maintenance capital projects, the County replaces or renovates existing amenities. This project includes design and replacement of the basketball court, three tennis courts, LED lighting, parking, picnic shelter, site circulation, furnishings, drainage, stormwater management and landscaping. We will engage with stakeholders and community members to consult in the design of these renovations.

About the Process

A Concept Design Kick-off meeting was held on Oct. 3, 2019. Staff shared information about the project timeline, online feedback solicited, existing site characteristics, and a design concept. Key things heard from attendees:

• Bike racks are important.
• Pickleball court is desired.
• Basketball court is not large enough.
• Concern over removing two existing mature trees.
• Tennis court practice wall location.
• ADA accessibility.
• More trash receptacles requested.
