About the Project

The Douglas Park Renovation Phase 1 project include the replacement of the round picnic shelter closest to S. Randolph Street, the wooden pedestrian bridge crossing the stream, site furnishings, trail and stormwater management improvements, invasive management in the forested area, as well as additional plantings.

Project Goals:

  • Replace the existing picnic shelter and wooden pedestrian bridge with improved structures.
  • Improve the paths within the park to ensure accessibility and circulation.
  • Upgrade existing site furnishings (picnic tables, park benches, trash and recycle bins) and add new ones.
  • Improve stormwater management. 
  • Remove invasive plants.

Summer/Fall 2024 - Concept Design Feedback

Level of Engagement: Consult

The online feedback form was open from August 15, 2024 to September 6, 2024. Respondents reviewed a draft concept and shared feedback on a proposed new park entrance at 16th St. S. and S. Quincy St. and an improved path at the S. Stafford St. entrance. A total of 123 participants responded.

Spring 2025 - Feedback on Final Draft Concept
