Certification Pathway 2: Applicable for Option 2, “ILFI” @ 0.35 FAR Tier: 

Applicants are required to provide all documentation specific to each individual permit stage. Submittals may not include materials intended for future or subsequent review phases.

Excavation, Sheeting, and Shoring

Specify the energy monitoring equipment needed to track whole building energy use and meet with County staff to discuss future energy benchmarking and tracking requirements and County support. This meeting should include the Developer.

Final Building Permit

  • Provide documentation to the County’s Green Building Staff confirming registration with the International Living Future Institute’s (ILFI) Zero Carbon Building Certification.
  • Add the County’s Green Building Staff (energy@arlingtonva.us) as a member of the project in the Access Portal.

 

First Partial Certificate of Occupancy

Coordinate and complete a site visit with the County’s Green Building Staff to verify any added green building elements (such as EV charging infrastructure) as stipulated in the site plan condition.

 

Partial Certificate of Occupancy on the Last Floor of Space

  • Create an ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager account for the project and input building characteristics as required for the project’s space type, including gross floor areas and all meters for all fuel types used onsite, including emergency generators.
  • Post financial security for International Living Future Institute’s (ILFI) Zero Carbon certification as required by the site plan condition.

 

Master Certificate of Occupancy

Provide a status update ensuring the project is on track to receive the ILFI Zero Carbon Certification. This includes, but is not limited to, documentation demonstrating a 20% reduction in embodied carbon emissions.

Applicants are required to provide all documentation specific to each individual permit stage. Submittals may not include materials intended for future or subsequent review phases.

Final Building Permit

  • Provide documentation to the County’s Green Building Staff confirming registration with the International Living Future Institute’s (ILFI) Zero Carbon Building Certification.
  • Add the County’s Green Building Staff (energy@arlingtonva.us) as a member of the project in the Access Portal.

  • Please note, within four years (48 months) of occupancy, the project conditions require the engagement of a Commissioning Authority who is independent of the developer and designer project team to recommission building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure and control systems, and renewable energy systems and assemblies.
