Do you want to reduce your energy usage but don’t know where to start? Have you already made energy upgrades and want advice on what to tackle next? Meet with a Home Energy Coach to get FREE support on your home energy plans.

What is a Home Energy Coach? 

Arlington’s Home Energy Coaches are vetted experts on home energy resources and efficiency upgrades available to help homeowners and renters meet their energy-saving goals. 

How can I work with a Home Energy Coach? 

  1. Submit an Interest Form.
  2. A Home Energy Coach will review your Interest Form to determine your eligibility (see Eligibility requirements below).
  3. If you meet the eligibility requirements for a one-on-one coaching session, your Home Energy Coach will reach out to schedule a 30-minute session. Your Coach will also send you an intake form for you to share more information about your home, energy systems, interests and any questions you may have. Complete the form prior to the meeting to get the most out of the session.
    If you are a renter in Arlington, a Home Energy Coach will send you information about energy upgrades for renters and invite you to join a group coaching session for renters.
  4. Meet with your Home Energy Coach.
  5. After your initial coaching session, your Coach will send a summary of your discussion, along with recommendations and resources. Within a few weeks, your coach will follow up to answer additional questions. At this point, you may also schedule a second session with your coach. 

Who is eligible to meet with a Home Energy Coach?  

To have a one-on-one session with a Home Energy Coach, you must meet the following requirements: 

  • Resident of Arlington County, Virginia 
  • Own your home* (all types of homes are eligible, including but not limited to single family homes, duplexes, town homes, condominiums) 
  • Interested in making energy upgrades in your home 

*If you are a renter, please complete the interest form to receive resources for renters and an invitation to join a group coaching session for renters. 

What topics can a Home Energy coach help me with? 

Your coach can help you with most home energy topics, including: 

  • Heating and cooling 
  • Water heating 
  • Lighting 
  • Insulation, air sealing, windows and doors 
  • Appliances 
  • Solar and batteries 
  • EV charging
