This unique shelter is part of a series of etched-glass bus shelters that were installed at various Arlington locations and were designed through ArtsWork, an employment program for creative youth.

Under the guidance of local artist Preston Sampson, the students generated ideas through hand-drawn sketches and digital manipulation to create several proposals for review by Arlington’s Commission for the Arts. The team based its designs on research conducted about the neighborhoods in which the shelters were to be installed.

Bus shelters designed by the ArtsWork team are installed in Arlington Heights, Buckingham, Cherrydale, Clarendon, and at Virginia Hospital Center.  ArtsWork students involved in the project include Reed Griffith, Jenny Korns, Ferdaous Moumni, Luis Roman, Kayla Scheiner, and Jerome Young.
