Acanthus is a patinated bronze sculpture whose forms are inspired by the growth patterns of plants. Artist Lisa Scheer named the work after the acanthus leaf, a prominent feature of classical architectural ornamentation. The plant was historically used as an effective medicinal and, as such, symbolizes immortality, rebirth, longevity and healing.
