Safety and Rehabilitation

Our office takes a long view on cultivating a safe environment. We believe this happens through focusing on rehabilitation. The individuals in our care will be returning to our community. By providing rehabilitation programs, educational opportunities, and mental health services, we aim to address the root causes of criminal behavior and equip them with the skills needed to lead productive lives upon release, a thoughtful transition from incarceration into society.

When we prioritize rehabilitation, it helps reduce crime rates and the associated costs and promotes fairness and equity. It recognizes that many individuals who end up in the criminal justice system have experienced socioeconomic disadvantages, trauma, or substance abuse issues. By addressing these underlying factors and offering rehabilitation, we move away from a punitive approach and instead foster a system that promotes equal opportunities for all.

Alternative Programs

Provides work opportunities and employment training for inmates to aid in their rehabilitation.

Community Readiness Unit (CRU)

Established in 2018 in the Arlington County Detention Facility (ACDF) as a Re-Entry Unit. It focuses on diverse programming and substance abuse awareness. Partnered with Offender Aid & Restoration (OAR) services to support the goals/growth of our participants. Our unified aim is to reduce recidivism by providing mental health support, self-empowerment, skill building resources, as well.

Mental Health

Reentry Committee

Provides assistance to incarcerated individuals with supportive services so they may easily transition from jail to the community and sustain a life that will not lead to recidivism.
