ACSO transportation facilitates the movement of adult and juvenile individuals with court obligations, potentially located in different jurisdictions. Individuals incarcerated elsewhere with court appearances in Arlington County are retrieved from their respective facilities and transported to the Arlington County Detention Facility. Their work hours can vary between 5:00 AM to 4:30 PM. 

Transportation responsibilities are as follows:

Court Pick-Up

  • Receive transport orders from appropriate court to transport inmates as scheduled and on time from other jurisdictions within the Commonwealth.

Mental Health and Civil/Criminal Commitments

  • Civil Commitments are conducted Mon. Wed. Fri. at 9am at the Virginia Hospital Center

  • Responsible for providing security during the Civil Commitment Hearing.

  • Ensure paperwork from the Civil Commitment Hearing is taken to the Behavioral Health Unit and or Arlington Courts.

Extraditions

  • Work directly with the Warrants sections for scheduled pick-up in other states which includes Federal facilities and Department of Corrections.

Medical Appointments

  • Transport inmates from the ACDF to any medical appointments to receive medical treatment
  • Escorts offenders into surroundings requiring contact with court personnel, hospital personnel, medical staff, and the public.
