The current Sheriff of Arlington County is Sheriff Jose Quiroz, Jr.  The Sheriff is an elected official independent from the local government, a state constitutional officer, and serves a term of four (4) years in office with the right of succession. The Sheriff’s Office serves more than 240,900 residents with 280 employees, including sworn deputy sheriffs and civilian staff.

Our Mission in the Arlington County Sheriff's Office is to make the justice system work, and foster Commitment, Diversity, Integrity, Respect, and Teamwork. 

Sheriff's Office Duties:

  • Manage County detention facility
  • Oversee Courthouse/courtroom security (Juvenile, Domestic Relations, County Circuit, and General District courts)
  • Transport inmates to court, state facilities, and medical/other appointments
  • Serve summonses, court orders and other civil processes issued by the court
  • Collect delinquent taxes
  • Assist in traffic enforcement as well as special details within the county
