Fitness Center Rules

Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center Updates:
Starting Fri., Sept. 5 – The Competition Pool and Spa will be closed on Fridays from 8 to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for reconfiguration, unless otherwise noted in the weekly updated lane schedule.

Starting Mon., Sept. 8 - The Competition Pool and Spa will be unavailable to the public Monday through Friday from 4:30-5:45 p.m. for DPR programming, unless otherwise notes in the weekly updated lane schedule. 

Sat., Sept. 13 - All pools and the spa will close at 4 p.m. for an AAC swim meet. The fitness center will remain open until 8 p.m. Please note that parking may be limited. 

Sat., Sept. 27 - The Competition Pool and Spa will close at 10 a.m. for GW University water polo matches. There will be no Family Play Time on this date. The fitness center will remain open until 8 p.m.

  • Youth between the ages of 13–17 years old are welcome to work out in the fitness center with a youth pass, after completing an orientation. 
  • Participants must wear appropriate athletic attire in all areas of the facility. The standards in fitness areas include appropriate tops, bottoms, and shoes. Open-toed shoes or sandals are not permitted outside of yoga or Pilates classes. Swimsuits are not to be worn in any part of the group exercise studio or fitness center. 
  • DPR reserves the right to restrict the use of any apparel deemed unsafe or inappropriate for use within the fitness center. 
  • Food, chewing gum, glass bottles, or cans are not permitted. Beverages must be in a spill-proof container. 
  • Spitting in the fitness area or water fountains is not permitted. 
  • Time on cardio machines is limited to 30 minutes when other patrons are waiting to use cardio machines. 
  • Allow others to rotate in work in when they are waiting to use the same station. 
  • The use of a spotter is strongly recommended when utilizing free weights or Olympic barbells. 
  • Return weights, bars, equipment, and dumbbells to their proper place after use. 
  • Wipe down and sanitize equipment before and after use. 
  • Refrain from wearing strong fragrances such as colognes, perfumes, and lotions. 
  • The use of profanity or abusive language is not permitted. 
  • Keep fitness center floor areas clear of personal belongings. It is strongly encouraged that patrons store all personal items in a locker before using the fitness center or group exercise studio. 
  • Headphones are required. Amplified sound in common areas is not permitted. 
  • Movement of any equipment/furniture may only be conducted by Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center staff. All fitness equipment should remain in the part of the facility where it was originally located. Improper use or unapproved modifications of equipment beyond the designed purpose is not permitted. 
  • The dropping or slamming of weights is not permitted. 
  • Use of outside training equipment, especially items that may be considered a weapon, must be approved by Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center staff. 
  • Chalk, rosin powder, wax or any other substance that might alter the floor surface is not permitted.
