For information including how to access services, contact Nicol Jackson at njackson1@arlingtonva.us or 703-965-6279. Arlington County provides case management for Service Members, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF) to navigate, coordinate, and access clinical services to assist with:

  • Depression or Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Military sexual trauma
  • Physical / domestic abuse
  • Substance use disorders
  • Schizophrenia and bipolar disorders
  • Traumatic Brain injury (TBI)
  • Homelessness

As we celebrate moving into the New Year, let’s remember our military families and those who are serving. This year we have exciting events and workshops coming your way, and we encourage you to engage with the SMVF (Service Members, Veterans, and Their Families) community by offering support, understanding and resources to help military families.

Monthly Recognitions

Veganuary: A month-long campaign encouraging veganism.
Dry January: a public health campaign encouraging people to abstain from alcohol for the month. 
Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Celebrated on the third Monday of January, honoring the civil rights leader. Holocaust Memorial Day: Observed on January 27th to remember the victims of the Holocaust. 
 
Community Resources

Resources for financial assistance and student interest free loans: It’s that time of the year where high school students apply for college and start applying for student loans, scholarships, and avenues to finance their career plans. The Military Office Association of America (MOAA) offers grants to support career development and community outreach programs and services through the MOAA Foundation (TMF), benefiting 50,000 uniformed servicemembers and veterans each year. Share this resource with SMVF students and learn more: 2026 New Student Application - Education Assistance Program>. Applications opened on Nov. 1 and will close on Sun., Mar. 1, 2026.
