Offender Aid and Restoration (OAR) Community Service Program

OAR’s community service program allows individuals to do volunteer work in the community in lieu of jail time and fines and to work off their accrued court costs. Participants typically are:

  • Court-ordered to complete community service.

  • Approved by a Judge to complete community service in lieu of paying their court costs, or

  • Referred by attorneys to complete community service pre-trial.

Northern Virginia Family Services Intervention, Prevention and Education (IPE Program)

Arlington JDRC provides referrals to IPE. The program helps youth ages 10 to 21 who are vulnerable to recruitment by gangs to develop the skills to resist joining and have their needs met in healthy ways. It also equips their parents and community members with strategies to provide effective support and structure. Through intervention, IPE helps young people decrease and ultimately eliminate being part of a gang. Through prevention and education, youth at risk for gang involvement are redirected to more positive pursuits.
