Duties of Clerk of the Court

The Arlington JDR Clerk’s Office plays a vital administrative and procedural role in ensuring that cases are processed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with legal standards. Clerk’s Office staff are responsible for:

  • Filing and maintaining court records,
  • Scheduling hearings,
  • Processing protective orders
  • Collecting court fees and fines, and
  • Providing certified copies of court documents.

While court personnel cannot provide legal advice, they can offer general procedural information to assist individuals in navigating the family and juvenile court system. Due to confidentiality laws, only limited case information can be shared, and such information is provided only to individuals directly involved in the case. These duties support the smooth operation of the court and help ensure compliance with both legal requirements and privacy protections.

Restitution

Restitution allows victims of crimes to be compensated for their out-of-pocket expenses. The judge determines how long the defendant has to complete payments. Victims provide documentation of their losses and defendants are ordered to repay that amount through the Clerk’s office. During the fiscal year 2024, The Clerk’s Office collected $12,707.02
