Arlington Man Faces Sentencing Following Sixth DWI Offense
February 23, 2026 Arlington, VA: Fely Montano plead guilty to Driving While Intoxicated in the Arlington Circuit Court on February 23, 2026, stemming from a September 2025 arrest.
On September 24, 2025, Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) Officer Battaglia conducted a traffic stop on Columbia Pike at South Columbus Street after observing Mr. Montano’s vehicle drifting out of its lane. Upon making contact with the driver, Officer Battaglia noted numerous signs of alcohol impairment. Mr. Montano was arrested and transported to Virginia Hospital Center, where a blood sample was collected and later analyzed by the Virginia Department of Forensic Sciences. The results indicated a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.192, more than twice the legal limit in Virginia.
This case marks Mr. Montano’s sixth DWI or related conviction since 2014. His record includes a 2017 DWI‑maiming conviction, where he caused a crash that seriously injured a family of three, including an eight‑year‑old girl who sustained significant and permanent injuries. His other convictions include prior DWI offenses and refusal to submit to testing.
“Instances of repeat impaired driving pose a grave threat to community safety,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Parisa Dehghani‑Tafti. “Our office remains committed to pursuing accountability in cases involving dangerous, high‑risk behavior on our roadways.”
The case, prosecuted by Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Logan Stein, is currently set for sentencing on May 29, 2026, at Arlington Circuit Court.
