The Arlington County Board has advertised consideration of changes to the allocation of state personal property tax relief monies for vehicles, as part of its upcoming Wednesday, April 22, Recessed County Board Meeting agenda. A public hearing will be held on this item during this meeting, and interested members of the public are encouraged to register here.
While the County currently receives funding from the state to provide vehicle tax relief, the current structure of those allocations results in a local tax burden that the County must close year after year. The Board will be considering changes that would continue its obligations and commitments to vehicle property tax relief but would reduce the local net tax support associated with the program.
If adopted, changes could impact qualifying vehicle having situs within the County commencing January 1, 2026, in the following manner:
The Recessed Meeting will begin at 3:00 p.m. with reports from the Board and County Manager. Agenda items will be heard no earlier than 6:30 p.m.
Public Hearings The Board will hold a public hearing no earlier than 6:30 p.m. and consider Regular Hearing items first, followed by items pulled from the Saturday Consent Agenda.
