UPDATED (4/29/25) - ACPD's Safety Patrol Camp application is now CLOSED! The last few spots for ACPD's 2025 Summer Camps are going fast! Applications for the below camps will be open until Sunday, May 4 at 11:59 p.m. OR until all spots are filled!

ARLINGTON, Va. (Published 2/12/25) The Arlington County Police Department is committed to working proactively with Arlington youth and is excited to offer fun and educational youth camp opportunities during Summer 2025. Applications for the following camps close on Sunday, May 4 at 11:59 p.m. The application to each of these camps may close earlier if all spots are filled before the deadline.

Participants, their parents and/or guardians are responsible for transportation to and from camp. For camps with multiple week offerings, participants may only attend one session of the camp.

Teen Police Academy
Ages: Rising 10th-12th grade students who live in or attend school in Arlington
When: Session 1: Monday, July 14 – Friday, July 18, Session 2: Monday, July 28 – Friday, August 1
Where: Long Bridge Aquatics and Fitness Center, 333 Long Bridge Drive, 9 AM - 4 PM
Cost: None
Lunch: Provided
Program Overview: The Community Engagement Division presents the Teen Police Academy for those who want to explore a career in law enforcement. Through classroom presentations, hands-on learning, scenario training, and a field trip to the National Law Enforcement Museum, the Teen Police Academy will educate participants about a career in law enforcement, while also giving them a better understanding of how the police department operates and its role in the community. Participants can ask questions of presenters and share their insights throughout the program. Topics covered in the Teen Police Academy curriculum include, but are not limited to, crime scene investigation, traffic stops, K9 demonstrations and criminal investigations.  

Forensic Science Experience
Ages: Rising 11th and 12th grade students who live in or attend school in Arlington
When: Monday, July 21 - Friday, July 25
Where: An Arlington County facility to be determined, 8 AM - 3 PM

Program Overview:
The ACPD Crime Scene Unit is hosting a week-long immersive program for rising high school seniors and juniors.  Participants will learn new skills each day and apply them to a simulated crime scene as well as gain hands-on experience and explore how science and investigation come together to solve crimes.  The week includes a field trip to the National Law Enforcement Museum and a second surprise field trip!  Candidates should have an interest in forensic science and will be required to submit a teacher recommendation.  Candidates must be able to attend all days of the camp.  

Arlington First Responder Co-Ed Summer Basketball Camp
Ages: Rising 6th-8th grade students who live in or attend school in Arlington
When:
Monday, June 23 – Friday, June 27
Where
: Swanson Middle School, 5800 Washington Boulevard, 9 AM - 4 PM
Cost: $50*
Lunch: Not Provided
Program Overview: Middle school athletes of all experience levels are invited to improve their basketball skills and connect with local first responders at the inaugural Arlington First Responder Co-Ed Summer Basketball Camp. Participants will receive expert instruction from former high school and college coaches and players, participate in daily development drills, and compete in a 5-on-5 tournament, a 3-on-3 tournament, and individual competitions such as relays and free throw contests. The camp will also feature special keynote speakers focused on leadership, teamwork and perseverance - qualities that are important on the court and while serving as a first responder.

Safety Patrol Camp

Rising 5th grade students who attend school in Arlington who are interested in becoming a safety patrol during the 2025-2026 school year

An Arlington County facility to be determined, 9 AM - 2 PM

Program Overview: Summer Safety Patrol Camp prepares participants to become safety patrols during the upcoming academic year. This five-day camp is sponsored by AAA and is led by Arlington County Police Officers who will educate camp participants on the various responsibilities of being an effective safety patrol member. Participants will engage in group activities, meet special guests from the police department, complete fun crafts and more!

*Arlington County does not want fees to be a barrier for residents to participate in camps. To request a reduction in fees, please reach out to the officer contact for the camp.
