Instructional Assistant Charged; Possible Additional Victims Sought

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department’s Special Victims Unit has arrested and charged an Arlington Public Schools employee and is seeking possible additional victims.

On May 28, police initiated a criminal investigation after receiving information that an Instructional Assistant assigned to Washington-Liberty High School had inappropriate contact, both online and in person, with a juvenile female student. As a result of the investigation, Rene Alfredo Escobar Jr., 31, of Arlington, VA was arrested on July 1 and charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and Stalking: 2nd Offense Within 5 Years.

Additional information regarding the investigation is restricted from release in accordance with Virginia Code § 19.2-11.2.

This remains an active criminal investigation and detectives believe there could be additional victims. The suspect has employment history interacting with juveniles at schools and a community center in Arlington County. Anyone who has additional information related to this investigation or has had past inappropriate encounters with this suspect is asked to contact Detective S.
