REPORTS
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-03050007, 300 block of 23rd Street S. At approximately 12:11 a.m. on March 5, police were dispatched to the report of a fight. The preliminary investigation indicates known individuals became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical altercation. Responding officers located a large group of individuals outside a business and requested additional officers respond to assist with managing the crowd. While officers were investigating the incident, two suspects assaulted officers. One of the suspects resisted arrest, an officer deployed OC Spray and the suspect was taken into custody. Darnell Turner, 33, of Washington, DC was arrested and charged with Assault on Police (x2). Marleta Dixon, 20, of Upper Marlboro, MD was arrested and charged with Assault on Police. Two additional suspects were acting disorderly and taken into custody. Chaniqua Washington, 32, of Washington, DC was arrested and charged with Drunk in Public and Disorderly Conduct. Cassandra Turner, 25, of Washington, DC was arrested and charged with Drunk in Public. Medics treated four individuals on scene for exposure to OC Spray.
ROBBERY (late), 2025-03040217, 900 block of Dinwiddie Street. At approximately 6:39 p.m. on March 4, police were dispatched to the late report of an assault. It was determined at approximately 6:30 p.m. on February 28, the juvenile female victim was walking in the area when she was approached by two juvenile female suspects, who are known to the victim. Suspect One knocked the victim’s to the ground and stole her phone before both suspects fled the scene on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries and declined medics. The investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 2025-03040011, 4200 block of Fairfax Drive. At approximately 1:54 a.m. on March 4, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, approached the female victim and a verbal dispute ensued. The suspect subsequently attempted to steal the victim’s purse but was unsuccessful when an employee intervened. The suspect fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported. Responding officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a light-skinned Black male, approximately 6’ tall, 200 pounds, wearing blue pants, a flannel shirt and a black coat. The investigation is ongoing.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY (late), 2025-03040179, 400 block of Army Navy Drive. At approximately 5:15 p.m. on March 4, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. It was determined at approximately 4:30 p.m., the reporting party observed the two male suspects exiting a vacant apartment and leave the building. No items were reported damaged or stolen. Suspect One is described as a Black male, wearing a brown hooded jacket and dark pants. Suspect Two is described as a white male with blue eyes, blonde or red hair, wearing shorts. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2025-03040158, 3500 block of 9th Street S. At approximately 3:59 p.m. on March 4, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. It was determined between 10:30 a.m. and 3:13 p.m. the suspect(s) made entry into the unoccupied residence, stole jewelry and other personal items before subsequently fleeing the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
