Media Advisory: Torri Huske Welcome Home Celebration

Arlington County invites the community and members of the media to a celebration for Olympic gold medalist Torri Huske on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, from 3-5:30 p.m., at the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center.
Huske, who was born and raised in Arlington County, is returning from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games where she won three gold medals and two silver medals.
Swim fans under the age of 18 will have an opportunity for autographs and photos with Torri Huske while helping one of Torri’s favorite causes! Torri asks that every child bring a non-perishable or canned food donation in support of the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). AFAC food drive boxes will be in front of the autograph station on-site. Everyone who attends the celebration is encouraged to bring a donation.
While everyone is invited to welcome home Torri Huske, the autograph portion of the event will be limited to individuals under the age of 18; Children interested in an autograph are encouraged to bring an item for Huske to sign.
Members of the public may start arriving at 2:30 p.m. and are encouraged to welcome Torri Huske with signs and banners as she arrives.
Members of the media may arrive beginning at 2 p.m.
The event will feature brief remarks from Arlington County Board Chair Libby Garvey, Torri Huske, and Evan Stiles, Huske’s former coach at the Arlington Aquatic Club (AAC).

- There will NOT be public parking available on-site at the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center; due to limited parking, attendees are encouraged to carpool.
- Free parking will be available at Long Bridge Park (475 Long Bridge Dr, Arlington, VA 22202); approximately a 9-minute walk to the event
- Parking is available along Long Bridge Drive
- Additional parking is available at garages in Crystal City
- Crystal City Metro Station (Metrorail Blue/Yellow Lines); approximately a 23-minute walk to the event

Background:
Torri Huske began swimming with the Arlington Aquatic Club when she was 6 years old. She graduated from Yorktown High School, where she had a successful swimming career and was named a 29-time National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) All-American. In 2002, Torri Huske was inducted to the Yorktown Hall of Fame and Inspiration.
She made her Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where she won the silver medal in the 4x100m medley relay.
In Paris, Torri won Gold in the 100m butterfly, 4 x 100m Medley Relay, and Mixed 4 x 100m Medley Relay, and Silver in the 100m Freestyle and 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay.
