Extended Day Employee Charged; Possible Additional Victims Sought

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department’s Special Victims Unit has arrested and charged an Arlington Public Schools Extended Day employee and is seeking possible additional victims.

On April 19, police initiated a criminal investigation after receiving information that an Arlington Public Schools Extended Day employee assigned to Abingdon Elementary School had displayed pornography to three juvenile victims. As a result of the investigation, Matthew Pineda, 18, of Fairfax County, VA has been arrested and charged with Possession of Child Pornography (x2) and Assault & Battery. He is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility. Additional information regarding the investigation is restricted from release in accordance with Virginia Code § 16.1-301.

This remains an active criminal investigation. Anyone with information related to this investigation or past inappropriate encounters with the suspect is asked to contact Detective R.
