REPORTS
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 2024-06300118, 1200 block of N. Kensington Street. At approximately 4:21 p.m. on June 30, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was inside her residence when she heard a loud banging at her door and observed the male suspect, who is known to her, allegedly attempting to force entry into her home, causing property damage. The victim then called police. Responding officers located the suspect in the area and took him into custody. During the course of the investigation a burglarious tool was recovered. Michael Vasquez, 30, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Attempted Burglary, Possession of Burglarious Tools and Destruction of Property.
BRANDISHING, 2024-06290248, 1000 block of Arlington Boulevard. At approximately 11:08 p.m. on June 29, police were dispatched to the report of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was inside a residence when the male suspect, who is known to him, was allowed entry by the resident of the home and subsequently assaulted the victim. During the altercation, the suspect brandished a firearm at the victim. The victim was then able to exit the residence to call police and the suspect left the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries and medics treated and released him on scene. The victim was provided information about the process of obtaining warrants for the suspect from the Office of the Magistrate.
ROBBERY, 2024-06300135, 700 block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 6:02 p.m. on June 30, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, concealed merchandise and attempted to leave without payment when he was confronted by loss prevention personnel. The suspect pushed loss prevention personnel before exiting the store and fleeing the scene on foot. No injuries were reported. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a heavy-build Black male wearing a dark short-sleeved shirt, gray pants, gray shoes and a black backpack. The investigation is ongoing.
