REPORTS
ATTEMPTED GRAND LARCENY AUTO, 2024-01170194, 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 10:08 p.m. on January 17, police were dispatched to the report of a vehicle tampering. Upon arrival, it was determined the reporting party observed two male suspects allegedly force entry into a parked vehicle and called police. Responding officers located one suspect inside the victim vehicle and took him into custody. During a search of the vehicle, burglarious tools were recovered. During the course of the investigation, the suspect provided false identification to officers and items believed to be stolen were recovered from his possession. Derrick Smallwood, 30, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Attempted Grand Larceny Auto, Possession of Burglarious Tools, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Petit Larceny and Providing False Identification to Law Enforcement. He was held without bond. The second suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of police and the investigation into his identity is ongoing. He is described as an unknown race male, approximately 5’7”-6’0”, 150-190 pounds wearing black shorts.
