REPORTS
ROBBERY, 2023-06100176/06100185, 900 block of Army Navy Drive. At approximately 4:35 p.m. on June 10, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny in progress. A lookout was broadcast and responding officers located the suspect in the area and attempted to take him into custody, during which the suspect tried to walk away and disregarded their commands. A brief struggle ensued and the suspect was subsequently taken into custody. During a search of his person incident to arrest, suspected narcotics and the stolen merchandise were recovered. The investigation determined the suspect allegedly concealed merchandise in a shopping bag before attempting to exit the business without paying. A loss prevention employee confronted the suspect and the suspect pushed him before exiting the business with the items. The suspect was evaluated on scene by medics for minor injuries. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the suspect had allegedly previously stolen from the business. Steven Spencer, 50, of Washington, DC., was arrested and charged with Robbery, Possession of Scheduled I/II Controlled Substance, Obstruction of Justice, and Petit Larceny. He was held without bond.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2023-06110221, 3200 block of 24th Street S. At approximately 10:53 p.m. on June 11, police were dispatched to the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located the male victim suffering from a laceration and rendered medical aid until the arrival of medics. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for serious, non-life threatening injuries. There is no suspect description(s). The investigation into the events that preceded the stabbing is ongoing.
PEEPING, 2023-06100010, 1600 block of 26th Street S. At approximately 12:33 a.m. on June 10, police were dispatched to the report of peeping. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victims were inside their residence when they observed the male suspect outside their window looking inside. A lookout was broadcast and responding officers located a suspect in the area of 26th Street S. and S. Veitch Street matching the description provided by the victims and detained him without incident. The victims did not wish to seek prosecution at the time of the report and the suspect was released from the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2023-06110014, 1400 block of 28th Street S. At approximately 12:49 a.m. on June 11, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim was in his home when he heard what appeared to be the sound of his front door open and shut. No items were reported damaged or stolen from inside the residence. There is no suspect description(s). The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2023-06110233, 2400 block of S. Lowell Street. At approximately 11:47 p.m. on June 11, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined between September 2022 and June 12 at 6:00 a.m., the unknown suspect(s) made entry to the home and stole jewelry and other collectable items. There is no suspect description(s). The investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY (late), 2023-06100094, 2500 block of Langston Boulevard. At approximately 10:11 a.m. on June 10, police were dispatched to the late report of an attempted breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined at approximately 1:10 a.m., two male suspects unsuccessfully attempted to force entry into the closed business. Suspect One is described as a Black male. Suspect Two is described as a Black male in his 50’s. The investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY (late), 2023-06100238, 300 block of N. Upton Court. At approximately 9:22 p.m. on June 10, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined the victims were inside their residence when they heard what appeared to be a loud noise coming from their front door and upon investigating, observed signs of tampering. No items were reported stolen or damaged. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
