REPORTS
ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT, 2022-03280188, 1000 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 6:02 p.m. on March 28, police were dispatched to the report of a shoplifting. Upon arrival, officers met with loss prevention employees who had detained the suspect. The investigation determined that the suspect, who had been previously banned from the property, entered into the business and allegedly began concealing merchandise into a bag before being confronted by an employee. During the course of the investigation, the suspect provided false identifying information, however, the officers were able to subsequently identify the suspect. The suspect was transported to booking and once inside, began to act disorderly, made threatening statements and spit on an officer. Ronald Thomas, 24, of Brandywine, Md., was arrested and charged with Assault on Law Enforcement, Shoplifting, Trespassing, and Identity Theft. He was also served with outstanding warrants out of Fairfax, VA and the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office. He was held without bond.
ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2022-03270226, 300 block of 23rd Street S. At approximately 11:26 p.m. on March 27, police were dispatched to the report of a hit and run just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male and female suspects left an establishment without paying their bill. A Security Guard made contact with the suspects outside the establishment and requested they return to pay. The two suspects declined and entered their nearby parked vehicle. As the Security Guard was documenting the license plate, the male suspect allegedly reversed the vehicle, almost striking the Security Guard and hitting a parked vehicle before fleeing the scene. No injuries or significant property damage were reported. The male suspect is described as a Black male in his early 40’s, with a mustache and goatee, approximately 5’10” to 5’11”, 200 pounds, wearing a black puffer jacket, blue jeans and a baseball cap. The female suspect is described as a Black female with black hair, approximately 5’6”, 150 pounds, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. The investigation is ongoing.
