REPORTS
ROBBERY, 2022-12300192, 2000 block of Clarendon Boulevard. At approximately 3:33 p.m. on December 30, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. A lookout was broadcast and responding officers located the suspect in the Courthouse Metro and took him into custody without incident. The investigation determined the suspect was inside the business when an employee observed him allegedly conceal merchandise in his clothing. The suspect then tried to exit the store with the unpaid merchandise, during which the employee confront him and attempted to prevent him from leaving. The suspect verbally threatened the employee and pushed him before fleeing the scene on foot. During a search of his person incident to arrest, the stolen merchandise was recovered. Zephaniah Rivers, 20, of Washington D.C., was arrested and charged with Robbery. He was held without bond.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (Significant), 2022-12310233, 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 9:21 p.m. on December 31, police were dispatched to the report of a destruction of property. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect allegedly attempted to force entry into a business by smashing a window and fled the scene on foot prior to the arrival of police. At approximately 12:02 p.m. on January 1, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny in progress at the same business. Upon arrival, it was determined a male suspect matching the suspect description of the previous incident was allegedly observed concealing merchandise on his person. Responding officers located the suspect and took him into custody without incident. Tajh Robinson, 32, of Washington D.C. was arrested and charged with destruction of property and shoplifting.
SHOTS FIRED, 2023-01010187, 1400 block of 28th Street S. At approximately 6:10 p.m. on January 1, police were dispatched to the report of shots heard. During the course of the investigation, responding officers recovered evidence confirming shots had been fired in the area. No injuries or property damage was reported. The investigation is ongoing.
SHOTS FIRED, 2022-12310180, 1500 block of 11th Street S. At approximately 6:10 p.m. on December 31, police were dispatched to the report of shots fired. Upon arrival, it was determined the victims were inside their residence when they heard what appeared to be shots fired. Responding officers recovered evidence confirming shots had been fired and located property damage to the exterior window and interior wall of the residence and a vehicle parked outside. No injuries were reported. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
SHOT FIRED, 2023-01010233, 500 block of S. Veitch Street. At approximately 9:34 p.m. on January 1, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim had returned home after an extended absence and observed damage to a bedroom. Responding officers recovered evidence confirming a shot had been fired and located property damage to a ceiling within a bedroom. No injuries were reported. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.
ASSAULT & BATTERY (Significant), 2022-12310181/12310186, 1200 block of Crystal Drive/3500 block of S. Ball Street. At approximately 6:12 p.m. on December 31, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious vehicle. The investigation indicates unknown female suspect(s) discharged a water pellet gun from a vehicle, striking at two victims. The victims did not require medical attention. The suspect vehicle is described as a silver or gray sedan. The suspect is described as a light-skinned, juvenile Black female, wearing her hair in a ponytail. The investigation is ongoing.
PEEPING, 2022-12310019, 1100 block of N. Taylor Street. At approximately 1:13 p.m. on December 31, police were dispatched to the report of peeping. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim opened her blinds and observed an unknown male suspect looking through the window. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’5 wearing a red hoodie. The investigation is ongoing.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES, 2023-0101014, 17th Road S. at S. Edgewood Street. At approximately 2:29 p.m. on January 1, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, it was determined the two juvenile female victims were walking in the area when the unknown male suspect parked his vehicle, rolled down the window and made a statement about them needing a ride home. As the victims continued walking, they observed the suspect exit his vehicle and begin walking in the area. The suspect is described as a heavy-set Hispanic male, approximately 50 years old, 5’3” – 5’5” tall with a mustache and wearing a blue shirt, dark blue vest and a baseball hat. The vehicle is described as a white pick-up truck. The investigation is ongoing.
ELUDING (Significant), 2023-01020039, Columbia Pike at Washington Boulevard. At approximately 7:55 a.m. on January 2, a patrol officer observed a wanted suspect driving in the area and attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and fled the scene at a high rate of speed onto I-395. The officer initiated a vehicle pursuit which was terminated as the suspect fled into Washington D.C. The investigation is ongoing.
WEAPONS VIOLATION (Late), 2022-12310145, 3100 block of Langston Boulevard. At approximately 3:22 p.m. on December 31, police were dispatched to the late report of a brandishing. An officer made telephone contact with the victim and determined he and the unknown suspect became involved in a verbal dispute, during which the suspect brandished a firearm. The victim was safely able to leave the scene and contact police. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as a medium-build White male with black and gray neck-length hair wearing a black coat. The investigation is ongoing,
GRAND LARCENY AUTO/VEHICLE TAMPERING (Series) (Late), 2022-12310078/12310095, 4000 block of N. Randolph Street/3800 block of N. Nelson Street. At approximately 9:06 a.m. on December 31, police were dispatched to the late report of a larceny from auto. Upon arrival, it was determined between approximately 5:45 a.m. and 9:06 a.m., the unknown suspects entered into and rummaged through approximately six victim vehicles. Personal items including a wallet, cash and credit cards were stolen from one of the involved vehicles. During the course of the investigation, it was determined a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, brown in color, bearing VA license plate VYM3367 was stolen from the 3800 block of N. Nelson Street. The suspects are described as two unknown race males, wearing ski masks, gloves, dark clothing, and tennis shoes. The suspect vehicle is described as a White SUV. The investigation is ongoing.
GRAND LARCENY AUTO/VEHICLE TAMPERING (Late), 2022-12310099, 4000 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. At approximately 10:50 a.m. on December 31, police were dispatched to the late report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, it was determined between approximately 12:35 a.m. and 4:35 a.m., the unknown male suspect forced entry into the parking lot of the business and stole a 2022 Mazda 3, gray in color, bearing MD license plate T1138861. Additionally, the suspect entered and rummaged through parked vehicles but nothing was reported stolen at the time of the report. The suspect is described as a Black male with a thin build, wearing a black hoodie, jeans and red gloves. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2023-01010192, 2300 block of N. Vermont Street. At approximately 6:17 p.m. on January 1, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined between approximately 11:00 a.m. on December 17 and 5:40 p.m. on January 1, an unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the home and stole electronics and personal items.
