Saturday, December 11, 2021 – Regular County Board Meeting
Pentagon City Sector Plan - The County Board will hear public testimony and consider a request to advertise a February public hearing on the draft Pentagon City Sector Plan, which is the culmination of the years-long Pentagon City Planning Study.
The sector plan provides an over-arching guide for future redevelopment and policymaking in the Pentagon City area. Its recommendations were informed by a robust analysis that addressed key topics and questions that arose during the planning process, as well as extensive public engagement that included a focus group, public workshops, virtual open houses, and briefings with County commissions and committees. If the Board approves the request to advertise, public feedback will also be considered at a public hearing in February.
Full build out of the plan would add density in the area that provides on-site affordable units and an enhanced multi-modal transportation system that prioritizes transit, walking, cycling, and micro-mobility. It would also deliver approximately 4.5 acres of new public parks and plazas, a 1-acre expansion of the Virginia Highlands Park, and 3 miles of public pedestrian pathways. The meeting will be live streamed on the County website, and on YouTube, and broadcast on Arlington TV, the County’s cable channel, with live captioning, on Comcast 25 & 1085 (HD), and Verizon FiOS 39 & 40. Videos of Board meetings are archived on the County website (with captions and staff reports) and on YouTube.
