Saturday, December 11, 2021 – Regular County Board Meeting
Pentagon City Sector Plan - The County Board will hear public testimony and consider a request to advertise a February public hearing on the draft Pentagon City Sector Plan, which is the culmination of the years-long Pentagon City Planning Study.
The sector plan provides an over-arching guide for future redevelopment and policymaking in the Pentagon City area. Its recommendations were informed by a robust analysis that addressed key topics and questions that arose during the planning process, as well as extensive public engagement that included a focus group, public workshops, virtual open houses, and briefings with County commissions and committees. If the Board approves the request to advertise, public feedback will also be considered at a public hearing in February.
Full build out of the plan would add density in the area that provides on-site affordable units and an enhanced multi-modal transportation system that prioritizes transit, walking, cycling, and micro-mobility. It would also deliver approximately 4.5 acres of new public parks and plazas, a 1-acre expansion of the Virginia Highlands Park, and 3 miles of public pedestrian pathways.
