Community Advisory: Special Event at Lubber Run Community Center

ARLINGTON, Va. — On Friday, July 23, President Joe Biden will attend a special event at Lubber Run Park, located at 300 N. Park D. in Arlington. The event will take place from approximately 6:00-8:30 PM.

Road Closures


The public can anticipate large crowds and increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the area related to the event. The following road closures will begin at 1:00pm:

  • Park Drive from N. George Mason Drive to 3rd Street N.

  • 3rd Street N. from N. Park Drive to N. Columbus Street


During the event, the following closure will also be in effect:

  • George Mason Drive from N. Carlin Springs Road to N. Henderson Road


The Arlington County Police Department will also monitor traffic conditions and may implement additional road closures in the interest of public safety. Those traveling in the area should follow the direction of officers.

Park and Facility Closures


The Lubber Run Community Center, the playground, courts, and amphitheater will be closed for all activities beginning on Friday, July 23. The center and outdoor facilities will reopen on Saturday, July 24 at 8:00 am.

Parking


Parking in the area is extremely limited. Participants are encouraged to arrive using multi-modal and public transportation options to reduce vehicular congestion. Motorists are advised that no event parking will be permitted in the Lubber Run Community Center Garage on N. Park Dr. or on N. 3rd street. The Ballston Parking Garage is within walking distance of the event.

Rideshare Pick-Up and Drop-Off Location


A designated rideshare pick-up and drop-off zone has been established at the K. W. Barrett Elementary School roundabout, located at 4401 N Henderson Drive (between N George Mason Drive & 3rd St N). Drivers are reminded that stopping or standing in travel lanes to discharge or pick-up passengers is strictly prohibited.
