ARLINGTON, Va. — On Sunday, May 13, 2018, the Arlington County Police Department's new organizational structure will take effect. Due to a significant reduction in staffing, the police department recently completed a strategic restructuring by reallocating positions within the agency. The new organizational structure maximizes available resources by focusing on core services and ensures the services provided to the community are effective and efficient.

Chief of Police M. Jay Farr recently sat down with members of the Chief's Advisory Council to explain the strategic restructuring, discuss key impacts to the community and how the police department is looking forward as an agency to improve staffing levels.

Jay Farr, Chief of Police. "Although the strategic restructuring has forced us to make difficult decisions, the Arlington County Police Department remains committed to proactively policing our neighborhoods to prevent crime and effectively communicating to ensure the public's trust. I am confident that, together, we can continue to maintain Arlington County as a safe place to live, work and visit."
