Help Firefighters Help Animals in Need
Published on August 01, 2016
With August comes Operation FirePaws, the Arlington County Fire Department's first-ever annual donation drive on behalf of the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA). Firefighters seek donations of nonperishable items on the
League's wish list for its animal shelter in Shirlington. Canned food, collars, toys and even some office supplies are greatly appreciated. The
AWLA has requested no milk bones, boxed hard treats or homemade items.
The drive runs throughout the month. Drop-offs are encouraged between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Donation bins are located at the front entrance of these fire stations:
The bulk of the collected donations will be presented to the Animal Welfare League at its
Wags "n Whiskers pet celebration on Aug. 27 in Shirlington Village.
