Crime Report: February 7, 2022

REPORTS

ROBBERY, 2022-02040274, 400 block of 23rd Street S. At approximately 11:51 p.m. on February 4, police were dispatched to the report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim was walking into the business when the three unknown suspects exited the business and physically pushed past the victim. The victim confronted the suspects who then turned around and allegedly began striking the victim. The victim fell to the ground and the suspects continued to strike her before stealing her purse containing credit cards and personal items. The suspects then fled the scene on foot. The victim sustained minor, non-life threatening injuries and did not require the treatment of medics. A lookout was broadcast and the suspects were located in the area and taken into custody without incident. Diajha Manning, 18, of Washington D.C. and Ezell Hill, 19, of Washington D.C. were arrested and charged with Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and held on secured bonds. Petitions were sought for the third juvenile suspect.

ROBBERY, 2022-02050089, 1500 block of Crystal Drive. At approximately 9:45 a.m. on February 5, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the suspect entered into a business and allegedly began to conceal merchandise into a bag before walking towards the exit without paying. An employee confronted the suspect and asked that he return the items but the suspect pushed the employee and fled the scene on foot. Employees followed the suspect and pointed him out to arriving officers. The suspect disregarded the commands of the officers and actively resisted arrest. Following a brief struggle, the suspect was taken into custody. During a search incident to arrest, officers located a tool on his person and determined he had thrown additional tools on the ground as he fled from the business. Justice Hatcher, 27, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Robbery, Possession of Burglarious Tools and Obstruction of Justice.

ASSAULT BY MOB, 2022-02050200, 5100 block of 8th Road S. At approximately 7:58 p.m. on February 5, police were dispatched to the report of a fight. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male victim was outside a residential building accompanied by two female victims when they were approached by a black sedan. Five suspects, two of which were known, exited the vehicle, brandished firearms and assaulted the male victim. The two female victims were struck by the suspects when they attempted to intervene. The victims were then able to enter into a nearby residential building and contact dispatch. The male victim sustained minor, non-life threatening injuries and declined the treatment of medics. Suspect One is described as a male in his 20’s, 5’7” tall, with black hair. Suspect Two is described as a Hispanic male with an average build, approximately 5’7”, 20 – 30 years old, wearing a black jacket and black pants. Suspect Three is described as a Hispanic male with an average build, approximately 5’8”, 20 – 30 years old, wearing a ski mask, gray top and blue jeans. Suspect Four is described as a Hispanic male with an average build, approximately 5’10”, 20 – 30 years old, wearing black clothes and a ski mask. Suspect Five is described as a Black male with an average build, approximately 6’0”, 20 – 30 years old, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a black gaiter. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY, 2022-02050205, 4900 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 8:15 p.m. on February 5, police were dispatched to the report of an assault that had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that two juvenile suspects entered a business and began to conceal merchandise. An employee confronted them and Suspect Two left the scene with the unpaid merchandise. As Suspect One attempted to follow, another employee confronted him and attempted to prevent him from leaving. Suspect One then attempted to strike the employee before fleeing the scene on foot. Suspect One is described as a Black male, approximately 14 – 16 years old, 5’5” – 5’7” tall with an average build. He was wearing a black jacket and gray sweatpants. Suspect Two is described as a White male, approximately 14 – 16 years old, 5’5” – 5’7” tall with an average build. He was wearing a black hoodie, gray jacket, black pants and a black ski mask. The investigation is ongoing.
