February 2021: The N Ohio & 14th St. project is substantially complete. Please see image gallery to the right for before and after photos.
November 2020: Construction for this project began in the week of November 9, 2020. See the “Construction Flyer” below for construction contacts and additional information.
December 2020: Construction at the intersection substantially reached completion. Drainage improvement and swale cleanout at the west side of the park area adjacent to the 14th Street deadend will be made over the next few months. Final roadway paving will commence in the Spring or Summer of 2021 through the County’s annual paving program.

About the Project

Pedestrian safety improvement project in the Highland Park – Overlee Knolls Civic Association neighborhood. The project scope includes the installation of a new crosswalk on the north side of Ohio St., with ADA accessible curb nubs and an extension of the existing median strip. A new trail connector will be constructed for pedestrians and bicyclists on the west side of Ohio St. at the crosswalk location to the existing trail at Highland Park. On-street parking will be maintained on both sides of the street, with the loss of 2 parking spots on each side of Ohio at the new crosswalk area. This project may include some storm water drainage and infrastructure improvements.
