Set up the Limits of Disturbance for the project and installed Erosion and Sediment Control. Completed some vegetation clearing.
January, 2022
Set up the Maintenance of Traffic around the site and continued clearing vegetation. Set up the pump around to divert Lubber stream around the work area and installed a bridge for equipment. Began removing accumulated sediment in the pond and grading the pond.
February, 2022
As sediment is removed, the contractor graded the area to create the new flow pathways through the pond and the deep and shallow wetland pools. They also placed jute mesh for erosion control, and add topsoil and native seed mix where appropriate.
March, 2022
The contractor will be completing some invasive plant treatment and removal of invasive Bradford pear trees along the bicycle/pedestrian trail. Following grading of the wetland pools, the contractor will start work on the deep water area, or forebay, where the stream enters the pond. They also plan to start construction of the observation platform later this spring.
April, 2022
The contractor has completed much of the sediment removal and grading for the pond. In April, they will be working on the deep water area, or forebay, where the stream enters the pond. They will installing weirs, or flow management structures, in the forebay area. They will remove the access bridge used by the equipment to access many areas of the pond.
May, 2022
There has been a delay in delivery of concrete articulated block that will be installed in the forebay (the upper part of the pond). The project is briefly on hold until these materials are delivered.
June, 2022

The concrete block is expected to arrive July 18 -19th. The contractor will begin installing the concrete block in the forebay once it arrices.
August, 2022
The contractor completed installation of the concrete block in the forebay area. The contractor has also begun installing wetland plants.
September, 2022
The contractor is repairing the weir, where the water flows out of the pond. The contractor will continue installing wetland plants.
October, 2022
The contractor has completed installation of the wetland plants. There are ribbons installed with the new plantings to discourage geese from eating the wetland plants. The contractor will not be working on site in October while awaiting delivery of materials for the project.
November, 2022
The contractor worked on outfall repairs, installing the beaver pond leveller and preparing for drilling of footings for the observation platform.
December, 2022
The contractor will be working on the outflow area at the southern end of the pond, installing a trash collection device and associated infrastructure such as maintenance access steps.
January, 2023
The contractor will be installing concrete piers and walls for the observation platform. The contractor will also be finishing the outflow area at the southern end of the pond, installing a trash collection device and associated infrastructure such as maintenance access steps.
February, 2023
The contractor will be removing the concrete forms from the observation platform piers and walls. The contractor will be placing some large stone underneath the area where the observation platform will be constructed.
March 2023
The contractor will install the observation platform. A crane will be used to install the platform, so there will be a short term partial road closure of the road next to the pond from March 6-March 17.
April, 2023
The contractor will be planting the higher forested wetland and shrub wetland around the pond, and making repairs to the goose deterrent fencing. The contractor will also be installing sod, the grass-pave maintenance access road, and the boat launch at the north end of the pond. The contractor will also be re-paving the asphalt trail.
May, 2023

The contractor will be finishing installing sod at the site and complete the grass-pave maintenance access road and the boat launch at the north end of the pond. The contractor will also finish up planting at the site. Major activities at the site should be complete in June.
