RESCHEDULED - Virtual Meeting: S Geo. Mason Dr Intersection Concepts

This meeting is being rescheduled

The Virtual Community Meeting for Phase 3 of the S. George Mason Drive Multimodal Transportation Study will be rescheduled for mid-January 2023. The project team felt there was more work to be done to refine the  concept for the S. Four Mile Run Drive intersection and to develop a final cross section for  Segment 3  (S. Four Mile Run Drive to S. Dinwiddie Street). Over the next few weeks, the project team will be focusing on:

  • Balancing tradeoffs at the intersection of S. George Mason Drive and S. Four Mile Run Drive. This includes looking at tradeoffs involving traffic signal timing, different transportation modes, and available space.
  • Improving safety for all users – pedestrians, transit riders, cyclists, and motorists.
  • Creating a connected bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

Join the S. George Mason Drive Multimodal Transportation Study team for the kick-off of the 3rd round of public engagement! We'll reintroduce the study, review its background, history and purpose, cover what we heard in the first two rounds of public engagement, and introduce the concept designs for intersections along the corridor that we developed based on what we've learned so far in the study process.

Following this meeting, we'll be launching an online feedback form to gather feedback from the community on these preliminary concepts.

The study will deliver recommendations for future capital projects to improve safety and access for all users along the S. George Mason Dr. corridor.

At this meeting you will:

  • Receive a quick refresher on the study's background, purpose and planning context
  • Review what we heard in the first two rounds of public engagement
  • Explore the updated concept for the three segments of the S. George Mason Dr. corridor.
  • Get a first look at preliminary
  • Learn more about next steps for this project
