Get Involved
You can help with the County’s emergency preparedness and assist should a disaster affect Arlington.
At the community level, you can:
- Become a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) member – Find Out About CERT
- Join the Medical Reserve Corps
- Use Arlington’s non-emergency number 703-558-2222 to request routine police and fire assistance. Call 911 for emergencies only
At the household level, you can:
- Make an emergency communications plan with your loved ones
- Put together an emergency kit with essential supplies like non-perishable food, batteries, medication, cash, and pet supplies
- Upload important documents (medical records, home deeds, insurance info) to the cloud in case paper copies are lost
- Save money as you can in an “emergency fund” for unexpected expenses like medical events or fires and floods
- Check on neighbors after cold snaps, storms, and other events to make sure they’re okay – we’re all in it together!
