You can help with the County’s emergency preparedness and assist should a disaster affect Arlington.

At the community level, you can:

  • Become a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) member – Find Out About CERT
  • Join the Medical Reserve Corps
  • Use Arlington’s non-emergency number 703-558-2222 to request routine police and fire assistance. Call 911 for emergencies only

At the household level, you can:

  • Make an emergency communications plan with your loved ones
  • Put together an emergency kit with essential supplies like non-perishable food, batteries, medication, cash, and pet supplies
  • Upload important documents (medical records, home deeds, insurance info) to the cloud in case paper copies are lost
  • Save money as you can in an “emergency fund” for unexpected expenses like medical events or fires and floods
  • Check on neighbors after cold snaps, storms, and other events to make sure they’re okay – we’re all in it together!
