Winter Closures 2023

Arlington County Cultural Affairs facilities will be closed on County holidays, (Mon, Dec 25 and Mon, Jan 1).

The Cultural Affairs facility at 3700 S. Four Mile Run Dr. will close at 6pm on Fri, Dec 22 and reopen on Tues, Dec 26 at 12pm. The building will also close at 6pm on Fri, Dec 29 and open at 12pm on Tues, Jan 2.

LAC Studios and the Scenery Studio will be closed on the County holiday and otherwise follow their regular schedule.

From November 10^th to January 17^th, we are looking for poems of 10 lines or less that will be displayed inside ART buses between March and September 2024. This year's competition will be judged by Arlington Poet Laureate Courtney LeBlanc!

Seven poems will be selected to be printed on colorful placards and displayed prominently on area buses, enlivening the ride for thousands of commuters. Each winner will also receive a $250 honorarium. Poets who live within the D.C. Metro transit area and are over 18 years old are eligible to enter. There is no fee to enter.

Arlington County Names Courtney LeBlanc New Poet Laureate

Courtney LeBlanc has been selected as the third Poet Laureate of Arlington County. During her two-year appointment, the award-winning poet will serve as an advocate for poetry and the literary arts.

Edited by Arlington County Poet Laureate Holly Karapetkova, youth laureates Amasa Maleski and Kashvi Ramani, and youth ambassador Liam Mason, the book encourages readers to believe in the future of our community.

Enriching Lives - Arlington Arts and Culture Strategy

The Arlington Arts Commission completed a comprehensive study of the arts and culture ecosystem in Arlington resulting in goals and strategies meant to provide Arlington arts stakeholders with tangible goals to create a thriving artistic and cultural community that supports the foundation of Arlington’s sense of place.
