The City of Virginia Beach seeks a professional artist or artist team, living and working in Virginia, to design, fabricate, and install a temporary art installation utilizing the pre-existing steel structure and cables on site at 300 Atlantic Avenue, in the Rudee Loop area of Virginia Beach, VA.
Project Goals:
To provide opportunities for Virginia-based artists to create:
Short-term installations using new and experimental media.
Dynamic work that can focus on and emphasize movement, light, sound, and human interaction.
To respond to and re-activate a pre-existing sculpture structure.
To create an immersive experience that will spark interest, imagination, and energy for locals and visitors.
To inspire and motivate environmental awareness, stewardship, and conservation.
High emphasis should be placed on the following themes: water/ocean conservation, environmental education, promotion of anti-pollution and pro-recycling/reusing, and/or protection of wildlife. The artwork should be constructed to last longer than 12 months in variable weather conditions taking into consideration the proximity to the beach and saltwater.

The DC Public Library Exhibits Department is now accepting applications for arts and humanities exhibitions to be displayed in the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. This opportunity is for exhibitions scheduled in Summer 2025 and beyond.
The DC Public Library celebrates art and exhibits as a source of learning, discovery, growth, and connection. The MLK Library hosts temporary exhibits in five spaces throughout the building, in order to highlight the history and culture of the District of Columbia.

This season, we are giving special consideration to exhibition proposals that reflect in some fashion on America's 250th Anniversary, to be presented in DC Public Library exhibit spaces between January and December 2026.

STUDIO OPPORTUNITY: Scott’s Edition Clay Street Studio Two Three Space, Richmond, VAa

Studio Two Three is moving from one place to another in Richmond. They still have a lease on their original Clay Street location until December, 2024.
What Private Membership at Clay Street will entail:

* A private studio and 24/7 access to the Clay Street building

* Access to basic screen printing tools (washout booth, screen storage, printing presses, flash dryer, drying rack)

* 24/7 access to the Manchester building & all communal tools

* Studios are $300 a month

Think of it as a truly member-run space. Private members will receive 24/7 access to the main studio space and a private studio, as well as full 24/7 access to our new Manchester space. Membership to the Clay Street building will only run until December 2024.
The Clay street building will not be regularly staffed - a cleaner will be on site twice a month for a deep cleaning, but members will be responsible for tidying up after use of the space. We will not be providing printmaking resources beyond tools. We will not have ink, emulsion or tape on hand. Members will be required to bring their own if they are choosing to print at the Clay Street location.

The Director of Communications will work to strengthen all organizational (internal and external) communications for Monument Lab. Monument Lab is seeking a creative part-time designer with a broad range of skills and experience to support a variety of organizational and project-based design needs. Liaising with the Interim Director of Communications, this position will work in close collaboration with Monument Lab’s design, communications, and project teams.
Monument Lab’s studio headquarters is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This position is hybrid, with approximately 15 hours a week over a 6-month commitment, $30/hr.

The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV), located in Winchester, Virginia, stands as a cornerstone of cultural preservation and enrichment in the Shenandoah Valley region. CALL TO STITCHERS: Stitching Together History: 250 Quilts Commemorating the Commonwealth of Virginia, Virginia Quilt Museum, Harrisonburg, VA

EXHIBITION DATES: Saturday, July 4 – Tuesday, December 22, 2026
This project aims to create an exhibition featuring 250 quilts that tell the history of the Commonwealth of Virginia. These quilts will be 20" square and will be juried into the exhibition from a call for entries. The quilts must depict a person, place, event, area, idea, or thing from Virginia history. For the purpose of this project the geographic boundaries will include all of current day Virginia and West Virginia. (Until 1863 West Virginia was part of the Commonwealth of Virginia.) The time frame that can be included in this project is open ended, from the creation of the physical land that is the Commonwealth of Virginia roughly 1.5 billion years ago to the present day.

The Baltimore Mural Program was created in 1975 to make Baltimore neighborhoods more attractive, instill a sense of pride, provide employment for local artists in their own field, combat graffiti in neighborhoods, and engage young people in the beautification of their own communities. Working with the artists, neighborhood groups/associations and funding sources, the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) coordinates and directs this ongoing program.

The Baltimore Mural Program has produced more than 250 murals across the city, creating an outdoor public museum for the enjoyment of the people of Baltimore. We work with local mural artists who have experience working with communities.

Gallery Underground is currently accepting applications for new gallery members. We have openings for 2 and 3D work. We are located in the Crystal City shops near the new Amazon headquarters. Gallery Underground is an Arlington Artists Alliance gallery promoting the works of established and emerging regional artists. There is no fee to apply.

Busboys and Poets, a community gathering place, restaurant and cultural hub for artists, activists, writers, thinkers and dreamers, is looking for visual art in all media to display at its seven locations in the DMV. Artists may submit up to 12 original works to be reviewed, ranging from but not limited to drawings, painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, assemblage, fiber, quilts, etc. Standing sculpture should be no larger than 24” in height.

THEMES: Art images reflecting equity and social justice, womanism, life in the DMV, COVID-19, community transformation, family, portraiture, whimsy, abstraction and life experiences within diverse cultures are encouraged for submission.

Artists selected will be notified by email at least two weeks in advance of installation.

Arlington Public Library spotlights local artists so that a greater number of diverse perspectives can be seen and more voices can be heard. Partnering with community organizations and individuals, the library promotes art as a means to inspire, to connect and to facilitate thought-provoking and timely conversations. 1455 is always looking for fresh, original contributions to its bi-monthly digital publication Movable Type. Originally conceived as a magazine "by writers for writers" 1455 has greatly expanded its scope and seeks to celebrate storytelling of all types. In 2022, the goal is a more diverse, inclusive multimedia experience; as such, we welcome poetry, flash fiction, essays, memoir, illustrations, visual art, comics, and recorded video of music or dance (interviews and artist statements are also considered). Having already showcased best-selling authors, academics, and creatives, the goal is to further establish Movable Type as a provocative forum for meaningful engagement with art.

Each issue of Movable Type revolves around a theme, and 1455 welcomes submissions year-round. Each issue will be accompanied by a live (virtual) reading, featuring the contributors.
