2019 (Fall) VYS Trend Reports

Virginia Youth Survey

Arlington County has been conducting the Virginia Youth Survey(Formerly YRBS) since 2001. The anonymous, voluntary survey administered to students in  randomly selected classes, grades 6-12 in all Arlington Public School (APS) middle and high schools helps to inform our community about important factors impacting the wellbeing of youth and families in our community.

History

From 2001-13, the survey was given to randomly sampled classrooms in grades 6, 8, 10 and 12. Starting in 2017, the survey was given to sampled classrooms of students in all grades, 6th-12th. Therefore, trend reports presented here contain even grades only for consistency. Some questions changed from year to year, so trend information is not available for each and every question.
