The Sheriff’s Office serves more than 220,000 residents with 270 employees, including sworn deputy sheriffs and civilian staff. The Sheriff is an elected official independent from the local government. A State Constitutional Officer, the Sheriff serves a term of four (4) years in office with the right of succession. The current Sheriff of Arlington County is Sheriff Beth Arthur who was elected in 2000 and has served more than thirty (30) years with the Sheriff’s Office.
