Summer Teen Enrichment Program (A.C. S.T.E.P.)
Thank you for your interest in the Arlington County Summer Teen Enrichment Program (A.C. S.T.E.P). The application period for the A.C. S.T.E.P. is now closed. Additional class dates will be announced at a later time.
During the summer of 2017, the Arlington County Police Department hosted the first Summer Teen Enrichment Program (A.C. S.T.E.P.) to students identified for their potential leadership qualities. The program is now offered each summer for Arlington high school students.
This program provides participants with positive experiences and mentorship through a program designed to develop leadership skills, provide the students with smart decision-making skills, and educative lessons. The participants also join in on discussions about the dangers of risky behaviors, practical knowledge, and lifestyle skills important to employment, mental health, and finances, all to promote healthy lifestyles through team building, leadership activities and self-confidence.
Throughout the program, students spend time interacting and learning from members of the Police Department, county agencies and community leaders in various hands on activities. Students work with the the officers to develop and execute a community service project focused on giving back to the community.
