Henry Clay Park Renamed “Zitkala-Ša Park”

On Dec. 12, 2020, the County Board approved a formal request by the Lyon Park Citizens Association to rename Henry Clay Park to “Zitkala-Ša Park.”

The new park name honors Zitkala-Ša, also known as Gertrude Simmons Bonnin, a nationally recognized Native American author and activist. The pronunciation of Zitkala-Ša ‘s name is Zit-KA-la Sha.
