REPORTS

ROBBERY, 2024-05230095, 2300 block of Crystal Drive. At approximately 12:07 p.m. on May 23, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. The preliminary investigation indicates the male victim was walking in a parking garage when he observed the male suspect looking into his parked vehicle. A dispute ensued, during which the suspect assaulted the victim and stole his phone. The suspect then assaulted a second victim as he was fleeing the scene on foot. Victim One was treated on scene by medics and Victim Two did not sustain injury. Responding officers conducted a canvass of the area yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 6’4" and 230 pounds wearing a white collared shirt and plaid pants. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY, 2024-05230116, 1400 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 1:14 p.m. on May 23, police were dispatched to the report of an assault just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the two juvenile suspects attempted to exit a business without paying for merchandise when they were confronted by loss prevention personnel. One suspect assaulted loss prevention personnel as they attempted to recover the stolen merchandise. The two suspects then fled the scene with a group of juveniles and ran into the Metro. Loss prevention sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention. The suspects are described as two Black males wearing black clothing and masks. The investigation is ongoing. 

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 2024-05230188, 3400 block of Washington Boulevard. At approximately 5:13 p.m. on May 23, police were dispatched to the report of an assault just occurred. Upon arrival it was determined that a male suspect entered the business, collected merchandise in a cart, and left the business without payment. When confronted in the parking lot by an employee, the suspect threatened them with a hammer. The suspect then left the cart full of merchandise with the employee and fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported. Responding officers conducted a canvass of the area yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’5"-5’7", wearing black clothing and having black dreadlocks. The investigation is ongoing.

BRANDISHING (late), 2024-05230018, N. Dinwiddie Street at 20th Street N. At approximately 4:54 a.m. on May 23, police were dispatched to the report of trouble unknown. It was determined between approximately 7:00 p.m. on May 22 and 4:54 a.m. on May 23, the male victim was in the area when he was approached by the male suspect, who is known to him, during which the suspect brandished a firearm. The victim ran from the area and was subsequently able to call police. The victim was provided information about the process of obtaining warrants from the Office of the Magistrate.

BURGLARY (late), 2024-05230148, 6100 block of 23rd Street S. At approximately 2:46 p.m. on May 23, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary just discovered. Upon arrival, it was determined that between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., the suspect(s) forced entry into the victim’s residence, rummaged through the interior, and stole coins and a duffle bag. There is no suspect description(s). The investigation is ongoing.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY (late), 2024-05230266, 1000 block of S. Frederick Street. At approximately 9:05 p.m. on May 23, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. It was determined at approximately 5:55 p.m., the female victim was inside her residence she heard a noise and observed her door open. The victim yelled during which the suspect(s) left the area. There is no suspect description(s). The investigation is ongoing.
