REPORTS
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2023-09040051, 500 block of N. Pollard Street. At approximately 7:16 a.m. on September 4, an officer was approached by a witness reporting an exposure. The officer located the suspect exposing himself and took him into custody. During a search of his person incident to arrest, credit cards that did not belong to the suspect were located. Lionell Grooms, 50, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with Indecent Exposure and Credit Card Theft.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2023-09030044, Unit block of S. Old Glebe Road. At approximately 4:29 a.m. on September 3, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was inside her residence when she heard a noise and upon investigating, determined the male suspect allegedly opened the door to her residence and looked inside before closing the door. During the course of the investigation, officers identified the suspect. The victim responded to the Office of the Magistrate, completed a criminal complaint and a warrant for Unlawful Entry was issued for Salvador Hernandez Umanzor, 22, of Arlington, VA. He was released on a summons.
ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2023-09040035, 2300 block of 11th Street N. At approximately 3:16 a.m. on September 4, police responded to the report of a possible mental health call for service. The preliminary investigation determined the male victim was outside a residential building when he observed the male suspect walk by holding a machete. A short time later, the suspect returned and initiated a conversation with the victim, during which he allegedly brandished the machete. The victim ran and the suspect chased after him while making threatening statements. The victim was able to get to a safe location and no injuries were reported. Responding officers located the suspect in the area with the machete and took him into custody without incident. Jose Gutierrez Del Cid, 33, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding, Brandishing and Public Intoxication. He was held without bond.
SHOT FIRED, 2023-09010239, N. Stuart Street at Fairfax Drive. At approximately 8:21 p.m. on September 1, police were dispatched to the report of a possible assault with a weapon. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim and suspect became involved in a verbal dispute during which the suspect brandished and discharged a firearm. No injuries or property damage were reported. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’11” and wearing a burgundy shirt and black pants. The investigation is ongoing.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2023-09010037, 2900 block of S. Glebe Road. At approximately 4:40 a.m. on September 1, police were dispatched to Alexandria Hospital for the report of an individual injured during an incident in Arlington County. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim and suspect were inside a residence when they became involved in a verbal dispute, during which the suspect brandished a firearm and struck the victim with it. The suspect is described as a Black male in his 40s, approximately 6'0” tall with shoulder-length dreadlocks. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY, 2023-09010009, 300 block of N. Thomas Street. At approximately 12:50 a.m. on September 1, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect approached the male victim and requested money. The suspect then pushed the victim and stole his bank card before leaving the area. The victim did not require medical attention. The suspect is described as a Black male with a beard, 40 - 50 years old, wearing a black shirt, black pants and black hat. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY, 2023-09040154, 4200 block of Fairfax Drive. At approximately 7:04 p.m. on September 4, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business and began collecting merchandise before attempting to exit the store without payment. A store employee confronted the suspect and attempted to stop him from leaving during which the suspect pushed the employee and knocked her to the ground before fleeing the scene on foot. The employee was evaluated by medics on scene. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’1”, 15-20 years old, wearing a black shirt and black pants. The investigation is ongoing.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY (late), 2023-09020076, 300 block of N. Edison Street. At approximately 8:46 a.m. on September 2, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined that between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on August 31, the unknown suspect entered the victim’s garage and vehicle. No items were reported stolen. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED CARJACKING, 2023-09040047, 600 block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 5:44 a.m. on September 4, police were dispatched to the report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim was exiting his parked vehicle when he was approached by three male suspects. The suspects instructed the victim to place his car keys on the hood of his car. The victim complied and walked away from the vehicle. The suspects fled the scene on foot after allegedly determining the vehicle was a manual transmission. Officers canvassed the area for the suspects yielding negative results. The suspects are described as white or Hispanic males, approximately 18-26 years old, wearing all black clothing. The investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 2023-09030062, 1300 block of Army Navy Drive. At approximately 8:29 a.m. on September 3, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined that between 10:00 p.m. on June 6 and 8:15 a.m. on September 3, the locks and door the victim’s residence had been tampered with. No entry into the home was made. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING BY MOB (late), 2023-09030130, 1700 block of S. Bell Street. At approximately 3:39 p.m. on September 3, police were dispatched to the late report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined between approximately 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on September 2, the male victim was in the Crystal City Metro when he became involved in a verbal dispute with the two suspects who subsequently assaulted him. The victim then boarded a train, left the scene and self-reported to an area hospital the next day for his injuries. Suspect One is described as a skinny-build Black male, approximately 5’6”, 25-30 years old, with short hair wearing a short-sleeved shirt. Suspect Two is described as a skinny-build Black male, approximately 5’6”, 25-30 years old with long hair wearing a white tank top. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY (late), 2023-09010155, 5500 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 1:57 p.m. on September 1, police were dispatched to the late report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined at approximately 10:00 pm. on August 31, the female victim was outside her parked vehicle when the suspect approached her from behind and demanded cash. After providing cash, the suspect touched the victim inappropriately before fleeing the scene. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY (late), 2023-09040130, 2400 block of Shirlington Road. At approximately 3:40 p.m. on September 4, police were dispatched to the late report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined at approximately 10:30 p.m. on September 3 the juvenile victim was walking in the area when he was approached by the two known suspects, a juvenile male and an adult male. The juvenile suspect pushed the victim to the ground, removed his shoes and threw them to the adult suspect before both suspects fled the scene on foot. The juvenile suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 6’2” tall, with long dreadlocks wearing blue jeans and a black shirt. The adult suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 20 years old wearing a white shirt. Petitions are being sought for the juvenile suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2023-09020153, 2900 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 5:20 p.m. on September 2, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 12:34 a.m., three suspects entered the business and stole food items. Suspect One is described as an Asian male with a slim build, 5'05” tall, 20-25 years old and wearing a white long sleeve shirt and jeans. Suspect Two is described as a Hispanic male with a slim build, 5'07” tall, 18-25 years old with black curly hair and wearing a gray jacket and jeans. Suspect Three is described as a Hispanic male with a slim build, 5'07” tall, 18-25 years old and wearing a white long sleeve shirt and jeans. The investigation is ongoing.
