REPORTS
RECKLESS HANDLING OF A FIREARM, 2023-03080291, 1300 block of S. Joyce Street. At approximately 10:30 p.m. on March 8, police were dispatched to the report of an assault with a weapon. The investigation indicates the male suspect was allegedly cleaning his firearm inside his residence when it discharged and the round entered an adjacent unit and struck the victim. The victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition for treatment of injuries considered non-life threatening. The suspect remained on scene and the firearm was recovered. Charles Daly, 47, of Arlington, Va. was charged with Reckless Handling of a Firearm.
ROBBERY, 2023-03080299, 2000 block of Clarendon Boulevard. At approximately 11:21 p.m. on March 8, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect entered the store and became involved in a verbal dispute with an employee. The suspect then allegedly went behind the counter, pushed the employee and stole a cigarette before fleeing the scene on foot. Responding officers located the suspect in the area and took him into custody without incident. No injuries were reported. Darrell Jackson, 37, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Robbery. He was held without bond.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2023-03080288, 2300 block of N. Pershing Drive. At approximately 10:19 p.m. on March 8, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect inside an office suite and took him into custody without incident. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the suspect had allegedly entered another suite in the building on February 12, 2023. Dmitry Vekilov, 40, of Fairfax, Va. was arrested and charged with Unlawful Entry (x2).
PEEPING, 2023-03080263, 1100 block of N. Taylor Street. At approximately 7:48 p.m. on March 8, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect entered the victim’s backyard and looked into the home before leaving the scene on foot. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a slim-build, tall, Black male wearing a white hat, black sweatshirt, light-colored jacket, pants and shoes. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2023-03080070, 200 block of N. Thomas Street. At approximately 9:02 a.m. on March 8, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined between 6:00 a.m. on March 7 and 6:00 p.m. on March 7, the unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the apartment and stole an undisclosed amount of change. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.
