REPORTS

ROBBERY, 2022-01100098, 1000 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 12:42 p.m. on January 10, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined that two employees of a business allegedly observed the suspect select and conceal merchandise and then exit without paying. They confronted the suspect, retrieved the items and began walking back to the business. The suspect began to follow, assaulted the employees and attempted to take back the merchandise. Arriving officers took the suspect into custody. During the course of the investigation, the suspect provided false identifying information to officers and suspected narcotics were located on his person. Medics treated both victims on scene for non-life threatening injuries. Jerry Hunter, 30, of Marlboro, MD, was arrested and charged with Robbery, Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance (x2), Identity Theft and Public Intoxication. An outstanding warrant from Fairfax County was also served.

SHOPLIFTING, 2022-01110111, 2400 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 1:20 p.m. on January 11, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the five suspects entered the business, smashed two glass display cases and stole eyeglass frames. The suspects, described as Black males, fled the scene in a gray pick-up truck. The investigation is ongoing.
