REPORTS
HIT AND RUN (significant), 2021-12250047, S. Glebe Road at 24th Road S. At approximately 1:25 p.m. on December 25, police were dispatched to the report of a crash with injury. As officers arrived on scene, one of the vehicles involved in the initial crash fled the scene. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however, the suspect disregarded and continued driving at a high rate of speed in the area. Officers did not pursue the vehicle and followed at a distance. Officers observed the suspect strike another vehicle at the intersection of S. Glebe Road and Walter Reed Drive, causing extensive damage, then come to a stop on Walter Reed Drive. The suspect exited the vehicle and was subsequently taken into custody by arriving officers without further incident. The driver of the second vehicle in the initial crash sustained minor injuries and no injuries were reported from the second crash. Meghan Smith, 25, of Falls Church, Va., was arrested and charged with Hit and Run – Attended Property: Injury/Damage >$1000 (x2), Eluding, and Abuse & Neglect of a Child, and issued summons for Improper Registration and No Insurance. She was held on a secured bond.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (significant), 2021-12240009, 4000 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. At approximately 1:07 a.m. on December 24, police were dispatched to the report of a breaking and entering in progress. Based upon information provided by dispatch, officers located the male suspect in the area and took him into custody without incident. The investigation determined that the suspect allegedly gained entry into the business, damaged office equipment and electronics, and cracked a window. Eric Moore, 48, of Alexandria, Va., was arrested and charged with Felony Destruction of Property.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2021-12260070, 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 4:23 p.m. on December 26, police were dispatched to assist Metro Transit Police with the report of an assault with OC spray. Upon arrival, it was determined that the two victims were getting onto an escalator inside the metro when they became involved in a verbal dispute with the unknown female suspect. The suspect pushed the male victim from behind, before reaching into her bag and retrieving OC spray. The suspect then sprayed both victims before fleeing the scene on foot and entering a vehicle in the 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. The victims sustained minor injuries and declined treatment by medics. The suspect is described as a Black female, approximately 5’8”, 160 pounds with long curly hair with the ends painted blue, wearing a black face mask, black puffy jacket, black leggings, black boots, and carrying a white and black tote bag. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY, 2021-12250027, 2300 block of S. Columbus Street. At approximately 5:19 a.m. on December 25, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, officers located a broken cash register on the side of the street and observed items scattered throughout the roadway. At approximately 6:03 a.m., officers observed the glass front door to an establishment in the 4100 block of Columbia Pike had been shattered. The investigation determined that the two unknown suspects forced entry into the establishment by shattering the glass door, damaged items inside and stole a cash register containing an undisclosed amount of cash, which they later discarded nearby. The suspect vehicle is described as a small, red sedan. There is no description for the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY (late), 2021-12260026, 5200 block of Langston Boulevard. At approximately 9:11 a.m. on December 26, police were dispatched to the late report of a commercial burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that between approximately 4:00 p.m. on December 24 and 9:00 a.m. on December 26, the unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the business by breaking a glass door, entered into office spaces, and rummaged through numerous drawers and safes. No items appeared to have been stolen. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2021-12260051, 4500 block of 31st Street S. At approximately 1:48 p.m. on December 26, police were dispatched to the late report of a burglary just discovered. Upon arrival, it was determined that between approximately 4:00 p.m. on December 20 and 1:40 p.m. on December 26, the unknown suspect(s) gained entry into the victims’ residence through an unsecured window, rummaged through and displaced numerous items, and stole jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
