REPORTS

ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT, 2021-12170145, 1300 block of S. Joyce Street. At approximately 3:05 p.m. on December 17, police were dispatched to the report of a fight in progress inside a business. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the two male subjects and determined that one of the subjects was an off-duty military police officer who was attempting to detain the suspect. The suspect disregarded the commands of the arriving officer and moved further into the business. As the officers were attempting to take him into custody, he continued to disregard their commands, act disorderly and resist arrest. A brief struggle ensued, during which the suspect grabbed at an officer’s exterior vest and attempted to disarm her. With the assistance of additional officers, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was treated by medics and medically cleared on scene. The investigation determined that the suspect allegedly entered into the business where he did not have a membership and became involved in a physical altercation with the off-duty military police officer, during which he attempted to remove his credentials and disarm him. Michael Sammey, 28, of Springfield, Va., was arrested and charged with Assault & Battery on Police, Attempting to Disarm a Law Enforcement Officer (x2), Obstruction of Justice, Trespassing and Public Intoxication. He was held without bond.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2021-12180304, 4300 block of N. Pershing Drive. At approximately 12:03 a.m. on December 19, police were dispatched to the report of a woman with a knife. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim was walking to his residence when he observed the two known female suspects engaged in a verbal dispute over the callbox to the residence. The victim asked the two suspects to leave, at which point they walked towards the back of the residence, threw a chair and broke it. The victim confronted the suspects, during which Suspect One brandished a knife and attempted to strike the victim multiple times. The suspects then came back to the front of the residence, smashed a window and fled the scene on foot. The victim was unsure if he wished to seek prosecution and was provided information about the process of obtaining warrants.

ROBBERY, 2021-12160024, 2700 block of Washington Boulevard. At approximately 1:30 a.m. on December 16, police were dispatched to the report of a trouble unknown. Upon arrival, it was determined that the four unknown male suspects entered into the store and began concealing merchandise, before leaving on foot with the unpaid items. A short time later, Suspect One and Suspect Two reentered the store and attempted to purchase merchandise. While speaking with the employee, Suspect One verbally threatened the employee and implied that he had a weapon before the two suspects fled the scene on foot. The four suspects are described as approximately 6’0” tall Blacks males. Suspect One was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, black face mask, black and white shirt, blue jeans and black shoes. Suspect Two was wearing a black beanie, blue jacket, gray pants, grey and white shoes and gray backpack. Suspect Three was wearing a black jacket, grey hoodie with the hood up, black pants and white sneakers. Suspect Four was wearing a tan jacket, grey hoodie with the hood up, black pants, and white sneakers. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY (late), 2021-12190058, 1800 block of N. Lynn Street. At approximately 5:40 a.m. on December 19, police were dispatched to the late report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim was outside of a business when the unknown male suspect approached and took his backpack containing an undisclosed amount of cash, electronics and personal items. The victim realized his items had been stolen and located the suspect still in the area. The victim confronted the suspect and he ran from the scene. The victim followed the suspect for a short distance, during which the suspect brandished a small knife and waved it at him. The victim then returned to the business and contacted dispatch. The suspect is described as an unknown race male with a thin build, approximately 16 years old, 5’6” tall, with black hair, wearing a black vest, white sneakers and face mask. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY (late), 2021-12170087, 3000 block of 10th Street N. At approximately 11:04 a.m. on December 17, police were dispatched to the late report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that between approximately 5:00 p.m. on December 16 and 8:17 a.m. on December 17, the unknown suspect(s) entered into the closed business, tampered with office supplies and stole food items. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY (late), 2021-12170174, 600 block of S. Ball Street. At approximately 5:50 p.m. on December 17, police were dispatched to the late report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 9:23 p.m. on December 6, the unknown suspect entered into the secure storage facility and cut the locks to approximately eight storage units. No items were reported stolen and no other items were reported damaged. The suspect is described as a White male with an average build, approximately 150 – 190 pounds, 5’4” – 6’0”, wearing a blue jumpsuit and dark sneakers. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY (late), 2021-12190014, 5500 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 12:51 p.m. on December 19, police were dispatched to the late report of a burglary just discovered. Upon arrival, it was determined that between approximately 11:15 p.m. on December 18 and 12:30 a.m. on December 19, the unknown suspect(s) entered into the victim’s apartment and stole various electronics. There were no signs of forced entry. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
