ARLINGTON, Va. — The Arlington County Police Department's Homicide/Robbery Unit is investigating a shooting that took place in the Arlington Mill neighborhood on the afternoon of October 21, 2020.
At approximately 4:41 p.m. on October 21, police were dispatched to the late report of a shooting in the 900 block of S. Dinwiddie Street. Arriving officers located the juvenile male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand and rendered aid. He was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation determined that the incident took place approximately 20-25 minutes prior to the dispatched call for service in the 800 block of S. Frederick Street. Preliminarily, it is believed that the victim and three known suspects became engaged in a dispute, during which one suspect produced a firearm and discharged it, striking the victim. The suspects then fled the scene and the victim left the area on foot and sought assistance nearby.
This appears to be an isolated incident between the involved parties and there is no known threat to the community related to this incident.
